About Basic Senses

Hi there, I'm Marisela, the maker behind Basic Senses.

I'm originally from Venezuela, spent a few years in Spain, and eventually made Ireland home. It was here, after becoming a mum, that I started paying much more attention to the everyday things we were using at home and questioning whether they all needed to be quite so complicated.

I began looking for simpler alternatives, learning about ingredients and making small changes to the way we lived.

Soap was one of them.

And I still make every batch myself.

For me, Basic Senses isn't about having a perfect routine or filling your bathroom with more products. It's about making the things we use every day a little more thoughtful.

Everything is handmade in small batches here in Dublin, with formulations created to give each product its own purpose and personality.

Because self-care doesn't need to be elaborate to matter.

Sometimes it's simply a good soap, a warm shower and five quiet minutes to yourself.
